Solid Waste Director Brandy Ward updated the board that recent sampling at the old landfill monitoring well detected three statistically significant increases, prompting placement of the site into assessment monitoring.
Ward said consultant Rocky Mountain Environmental recommended proceeding with a modified assessment approach rather than full quarterly monitoring at this time; staff will continue required monitoring and coordinate next steps with the County Engineer. Ward also reported she has pursued three remaining account credits on old accounts and that survey work at both landfills is complete, with updated maps prepared for county use.
The board did not take further action on the monitoring recommendation during the meeting; next steps include staff coordination with the County Engineer and continued sampling per regulatory requirements.
