Health director previews BOCC budget retreat, reports two grants awarded to county public‑health

Health Director JaNell Octigan reviewed a draft presentation planned for the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners' budget retreat in February and answered board questions about community outreach and kiosks maintenance. Board members asked for details on Narcan distribution at Community in Action events in Chocowinity and on the service and repair plans for community kiosks; Octigan said staff are meeting with the kiosk vendor and with new town leadership to follow up.
Octigan also reported grant outcomes: PREPare for Success and Healthy Beginnings have been awarded, and the department is still awaiting a decision on a Community Health Grant application. The awarded grants will be integrated into program planning for the year ahead.
