Commissioners approve Weil Road excavation permit and temporary closure for Grace Valley Subdivision
Summary
Guadalupe County approved an excavation permit and temporary road closure on Weil Road (Precinct 4) for the Grace Valley Subdivision to replace a culvert, add left- and right-turn lanes and re-chip-seal the road; staff estimated the closure could last 4–5 weeks under good conditions and said they would coordinate detour and notifications with the city of Santa Clara.

Commissioner Gurman presented an excavation permit and temporary-road-closure request for Weil Road in Precinct 4 related to the Grace Valley Subdivision. The work includes replacing the existing culvert structure, adding right- and left-turn lanes, widening the road and re-chip-sealing the affected segment. Road/bridge staff confirmed a detour plan had been submitted and coordinated with the city of Santa Clara.
Road staff estimated the construction window would be "4 to 5 weeks with no rain and no headaches or hiccups," though the contractor originally estimated 6–8 weeks. Commissioners asked staff to obtain a firm start date to report to the Santa Clara City Council; staff noted Aug. 26 as a likely coordination date. The court voted to approve the excavation permit and temporary closure.
