Guadalupe County files proposed FY2024–25 budget; sets proposed tax rate at 31.67

At the Aug. 20 meeting, the judge filed the proposed fiscal year 2024–25 budget with the county clerk and outlined the adoption calendar: a public hearing on the budget and the 2024 tax-rate setting, elected-official salary setting and final budget adoption are scheduled for the Sept. 3 session. "The recommended budget was filed with the county clerk available for public view," the judge said, and encouraged residents to review the documents online or in hard copy.
The judge reviewed tax-rate figures: he said the current total tax rate for fiscal year 2024 is 32.31 and the proposed tax rate is set at 31.67, "just above the no new revenue rate of 31.05." Commissioner S3 moved to record the proposed budget with the county clerk and the motion passed with no opposition. The court noted commissioners will finalize elected-official salaries and set the tax rate at the Sept. 3 meeting.
