Resident urges service awards for reserve deputies and unpaid public-safety volunteers

"Cost on this is minimal...probably $3 each," he said, arguing that such recognition would acknowledge volunteers who contribute what he estimated as "about 1,000 hours a year" per agency.
Nicholas T suggested the expense of pins and certificates would be negligible and noted volunteers save the county money by supporting public-safety operations. The court did not take action on the request during the meeting; the comment was recorded during the public-comment period and the judge moved on to the consent agenda.
