The Lee County Board of Commissioners opened a public hearing on fire district tax rates and heard several residents and fire department leaders before voting to approve the recommended budgets.
The chair closed the hearing after public comment and Commissioner Reeves moved to approve the budgets as recommended. Commissioners voted by voice and the chair announced the motions passed. During the hearing the board also agreed to refer a resident's concern to the Fire Advisory Board for a response and to hold monthly Fire Advisory Board meetings for the rest of the year so the board can better track implementation and accountability.
