At the Sept. 17 meeting the Houston County Board of Commissioners concurred with several annexation requests submitted by the cities of Perry and Warner Robins. The Board concurred with Perry’s annexation of 42.89 acres on S. Hwy 341 (Tax Parcel 000830 043000) and 22.5 acres on Main Street (Tax Parcel 000570 008000). The Board also concurred with Warner Robins’ annexations for 1279 S. Houston Lake Road (Tax Parcel 00077D 006000, 1.1 acres) and 120 Kennel Drive (Tax Parcel 000730 032000, 22.97 acres).
Public comment included resident concerns about traffic, sidewalks and safety (Mr. Sharples) and worries about multi-story development, floodplain and school crowding (David Jones). For 1279 S. Houston Lake Road the Board stipulated that county utilities remain with the County. For the 120 Kennel Drive parcel the Board stipulated that no access be granted from Mauk Cir. County Attorney Tom Hall advised that legally a non-concurrence would be difficult and that the city review process should address floodplain and buffer issues.
