County commissioners approve payroll, holiday pay, records-destruction resolution and mileage increase

The Minidoka County Board of Commissioners approved a series of routine administrative actions during their Jan. 5 meeting, including claims and payroll and paid holidays for Dec. 24 and Dec. 26, 2025.
Commissioner Schaeffer moved to approve claims and payroll as presented; Commissioner Koyle seconded and the motion carried. Later in the meeting Commissioner Koyle moved (seconded by Commissioner Schaeffer) to pay holiday pay for Dec. 24 and 26, 2025, and that motion also carried. The board adopted Resolution #2026-01-05A pursuant to I.C. 31-871 authorizing destruction of records after a motion by Commissioner Koyle and a second by Commissioner Schaeffer.
On compensation policy, the board voted to increase the county mileage reimbursement by 2.5 cents to $0.725 per mile to match the 2026 federal rate, effective Jan. 1, 2026. Clerk Page shared the 2026 federal mileage and per diem rates with the board before the motion. The minutes record motions and seconds for each item and note the motions carried; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the minutes.
The board also approved homeowners tax cancellations pursuant to I.C. 63-602(g) for parcels RPH25700010040, RPR11200010040, and RPH2570001005a following a motion by Commissioner Koyle and a second by Commissioner Orton. Prosecutor Stevenson was assigned to obtain Cassia County's approval where required for a separate appointment action.
