Regional partners and county staff told the Jan. 14 joint meeting that substantial grant funding will be required to move water and sewer expansion forward. Paul Jadrnicek of the West Piedmont Planning District Commission said the commission will meet the Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission on Jan. 22 to discuss potential funding opportunities.
Board members and staff indicated the West Piedmont commission would assist in pursuing grants and that pursuing those funding sources is a near-term priority before large-scale construction or expansions proceed. No grant awards, applications, or dollar amounts were recorded at the meeting; staff said the commission’s work will inform future funding requests and project timelines.
