Carawan said financial statements show a decrease of about $1.475 million because grants have been spent down. He reported revenues exceeded expenditures by $4.35 million overall; the general fund budget is $25 million with $10.73 million spent year-to-date and $8.68 million encumbered. Carawan also noted social services expenditures currently exceed revenues by $982,000 and the water department’s revenues exceed expenditures by $352,856.
Carawan’s overview prompted questions about line items appearing over budget due to maintenance agreements and grant expenditures; no budget amendments were approved at the meeting. The report will be part of the auditors’ review as staff continue to reconcile accounts.
