Executive Director Trenton Funkhouser told the EDA that scheduling the Blue Catfish Advisory Committee kick-off is a priority and that Virginia Tech and the recent General Assembly report emphasize state-level marketing responsibilities rather than specific local actions. Funkhouser said he will continue coordinating with EDA members on BUILD grant planning and related tasks.
Funkhouser also reported that county staff and the Board of Supervisors are negotiating with Dominion regarding solar facilities at the county landfill and that the so-called "Battery Site" has been transferred to the county but not yet to the EDA. In board member comments, Doug McMinn reported a public-health advisory on salmonella (72 cases since June; 10 in Virginia) and other local updates. The board held a closed session for the Executive Director's annual performance evaluation and later certified the closed meeting before adjourning.
