Road & Bridge reports progress on Black Mountain Road; grinding by end of May, chip seal in June

Road & Bridge Supervisor Shane Rankin told the Board that crews used recent moisture to blade roads, deploy a water truck for dust control, and conduct patching and sign work. All new road signs for Black Mountain Road have been received and installation will follow marking to the engineer’s plan.
Rankin said the road has been seeded and the grinding process is set to begin by the end of May, with chip sealing planned for the beginning of June. A speed study on Black Mountain Road is not yet complete; Rankin said he will order speed‑limit signs once the study is finalized. He also praised contractor Wilson Brothers for work quality and cost-effectiveness: “the County could not have gotten done what they did for a cheaper price and they were a pleasure to work with.”
