Planning commission recommends approval of Flourish Real Estate special use permit at former Tanner's Ridge church

The Page County Planning Commission on June 9 recommended approval of a special use permit to allow Flourish Real Estate LLC (John Copper) to operate a banquet-event facility at 3434 Tanner's Ridge Road in Stanley.
Planning staff told commissioners the application covers a 1.0-acre parcel zoned Woodland Conservation and an adjacent 1.501-acre parcel zoned AG; staff noted the application was filed before last year's code amendment and is therefore grandfathered under prior rules. Staff urged the commission to make agency comments and permitting requirements conditions of the SUP.
Local residents who said they live near the site told the commission the former stone church would be well suited for weddings and small events. "It's beautiful and it would be perfect for weddings," said Glenda Sue Holmes, who said she was born and raised on Tanner's Ridge and remembers Sunday school at the church. Another neighbor, Stephen Holmes, said he mows the property occasionally and supported the conversion.
Vice Chair Kathy Grech moved that the commission recommend approval with the draft conditions dated 06/03/26; the motion was seconded and carried on roll call. The motion directs staff to include agency comments as permit conditions and forward the recommendation to the Board of Supervisors for final action.
