Representatives of the Seguin Guadalupe County Retired Teachers Association told the court they track volunteer hours and reported their local chapter logged 63,324 hours in 2023. "Our chapter here volunteered 63324 hours last year, 2023," a representative said, adding that at the U.S. government valuation of $33.48 per hour those hours translate into more than $2.1 million in community service.
The presenters listed community activities where retirees volunteer, including libraries, Meals on Wheels and local hospitals, and told commissioners they would continue to tally annual hours. Commissioners thanked the group and invited a photo at the dais following the brief presentation.
