Judges announce St. Croix County adult treatment court will be phased out by Dec. 31

The presiding judge announced that the county's adult treatment court will be discontinued on Dec. 31 because "based on the numbers, based on funding, based on personnel'they weren't viable," the judge said during the council meeting. Judges reached the decision after consultation with colleagues and other stakeholders.
The judge said staff and judicial partners are working on transition plans aimed at providing support and assistance to people still enrolled when the court ends. "We're still trying to figure out a transition in terms of hopefully providing some support, some assists to those people who are still in the court as of the termination date of the court," the presiding judge said. Council members discussed coordination with diversion services and behavioral-health providers to cover gaps when the court ends. The judge invited related subcommittees to help plan next steps and requested updates at future meetings.
The announcement follows earlier remarks from Judge Norstrand at the March meeting flagging operational challenges. Council members emphasized the need to preserve services for high-risk, high-need individuals and to coordinate with behavioral-health partners and grant applications that could support alternative programming.
