Doniphan County road office tracks storm damage, reviews culvert bids and reports bridge funding denial

Doniphan County Road Office Manager Lindsay Norris told commissioners June 8 that staff are tracking storm damage from heavy rainfall the week of June 1, 2026, in case a disaster declaration and FEMA funding become available. Norris also reported a washed-out 15" tube on 275th Road and said contractor Pat Urban was contacted to assess the site.
Norris presented temporary work agreements from adjoining landowners for a box culvert repair on Diamond Springs Road that the county road department will perform using rented equipment. The board also held a bid letting for a 200' x 24" crossroad culvert on Randolph Road and opened a single bid from Engemann Drainage Co., Inc. for $29,250; the board tabled action pending review. Separately, Norris advised Doniphan County was not awarded bridge replacement funding for FY27 through the Kansas Local Bridge Improvement program or the Off-System Bridge program.
