The Doniphan County Commission voted June 8 to enter into a professional services agreement with Snyder & Associates of St. Joseph, Missouri, for design and construction engineering of a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) courthouse ADA ramp. The board authorized fees not to exceed $66,250 for engineering and construction oversight.
County Clerk Peggy Franken told the board Doniphan County was awarded $403,258 in CDBG funds for the courthouse ADA improvement project and will be responsible for $84,252 in project costs. Correspondence from officers and board members of the Doniphan County Historical Society indicated support for the ramp provided it does not affect the historic courthouse’s integrity; the county and the Kansas Historical Society are awaiting input from the Doniphan County Heritage Commission before proceeding further.
