Public Health reports uptick in respiratory testing, schedules 'Mental Health Matters' event May 6

Public Health Nurse Manager Shawn Mohr told the commissioners that local demand for rapid testing of influenza, COVID-19 and strep has increased and that RSV and pertussis activity has been observed in neighboring counties. He said Public Health has been delivering education sessions for bystander CPR, basic life support and Heart Saver courses.
Mohr described an upcoming 'Mental Health Matters' outreach event scheduled for May 6 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Broadway Bakery lot; the event will offer free tacos and mental-health resources. He also said the department will print 1,000 copies of an updated community resource guide to improve referrals to local services and is preparing a graduation-safety campaign to encourage safe, sober celebrations. Commissioners asked Public Health to share printed guides with the law enforcement center.
