Youth Alternatives reports program activity, trainings and community service hours

Barbara Rice, Director of Youth Alternatives, told commissioners there are currently four juveniles in the program on legal system referral (two boys, two girls) and 20 students engaged at The Learning Center, including five high‑school students. Rice said 25 students completed QPR suicide prevention training on Jan. 25, 2026.
Rice listed upcoming events including an Alive at 25 class on March 13 in Powell, family ECHO stations on March 4 and March 18, participation in the Prevention Coalition event on March 8 at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds, and hosting a Historical Society event on March 14. She reported 17 individuals completed supervised community service totaling 340 hours under Youth Alternatives and The Learning Center.
Rice said staff are coordinating with CWC on press releases and a web link to publicize program activities and services.
