Planner: LUPC recommended do‑not‑pass on Owl Creek gravel pit; BOCC to hold April hearing

Planner/Project Manager Les Culliton told the board that the Land Use Planning Commission held a public hearing on Feb. 18 regarding Owl Creek Gravel Productions LLC’s application for a gravel pit and recommended "do not pass." Culliton requested that the Board of County Commissioners hold a public hearing in April to allow the applicant and county planner to provide additional information.
Culliton said the Natural Resource Planning Commission discussed several subjects at its Feb. 11 meeting and that additional discussion is planned. He also briefed commissioners on cleanup and DEQ requirements at the old airport site and asked for a work session with consultant Ardurra to discuss cleanup and Brownfield project steps.
No BOCC decision was made at the March 3 meeting; Culliton recommended giving the applicant time to supplement the record before the BOCC hearing in April.
