CASA Central Texas asks Guadalupe County for volunteer support as local caseload grows

Anna Blackwell, CEO of CASA Central Texas, told the Commissioners Court that CASA supports children in Guadalupe County who are involved in the child‑welfare system and relies on trained volunteer advocates. “Our core services include advocacy for medical, mental health, education placement, and permanency needs of the child,” she said, adding that CASA supported 47 children in the county in 2024 and currently relies on volunteers from neighboring Comal County when local volunteers are not available.
Blackwell said CASA will mark its 40th anniversary in 2025 and highlighted local legal clinics and community outreach efforts that have increased public awareness and volunteer applications. Commissioners praised the organization’s work and encouraged residents to volunteer; no county funding action was requested or taken at the meeting.
