The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court approved two proclamations recognizing World Polio Day (Oct. 24, 2024) and October as Mediation Awareness Month.
A court reader recited the World Polio Day proclamation, noting Rotary International’s role in PolioPlus and the Global Polio Eradication Initiative and local Seguin Rotary fundraising for immunization and county charities. “Recognizing 10/24/2024 is World Polio Day in Guadalupe County,” the proclamation reads. The court moved, seconded and approved the proclamation by voice vote with no opposition.
For Mediation Awareness Month, Central Texas Dispute Resolution representatives described 15 years of service in the region and asked for community volunteers and financial support for clinics and training programs. “We provide services to children ages … up to age 18 who are transitioning into independent living,” the presenter said while summarizing services offered in local legal clinic settings. The court read and approved the proclamation; commissioners urged residents to consider volunteer opportunities and noted the value of mediation in reducing court time and cost.
