Planning commission recommends Stannersville sign-ordinance changes, sends redline to town council

At a joint portion of the meeting, the planning commission opened a public hearing on proposed changes to the Stannersville sign ordinance and reviewed redlined clarifications aimed at preserving the town's visual character.
Staff walked the commission through the revisions to definitions (freestanding vs. post vs. monument signs), a clarified aggregate-sign table, and a limit on window signs so they "couldn't be more than 50% of the window," the staff member said. Staff explained that the redline was intended to steer new sign applications toward a lower-profile, town-scaled appearance while documenting existing nonconforming signs so businesses would be protected when upgrading signage.
After public comment, a commissioner moved to approve the redlined document and to forward the commission's recommendation to the town council; the motion was seconded and passed by recorded vote. Commissioners then clarified the ordinance identifier (TOSOR25-002/OR25-002) and voted to recommend OR25-002 to the council. The commission advised that the council's public hearing was tentatively scheduled for April 13 at 6:30 p.m. at town hall.
