The Middlesex County Wetlands Board elected Chris Brewington as chair and Monica Sanders as vice chair during its organizational business at the Jan. 13, 2026 meeting in Saluda. The session was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by staff representative Marc Longest in the Historic Courthouse boardroom.
Scotty Schafer nominated Brewington for chair and Monica Sanders seconded; Marc Longest closed nominations and the board approved the election unanimously. Schafer then nominated Sanders for vice chair, Brewington seconded, and the board again elected the nominee unanimously for the 2026 calendar year. The minutes record these actions as carried unanimously.
The organizational votes followed a brief attendance roll call that listed Monica Sanders, Chris Brewington, Scotty Schafer and Alternate Michael Indorf as present, with staff Marc Longest and Kylie Harris of the Virginia Marine Resources Commission also attending. The board noted at the meeting that additional members are needed and that one item is listed for the February agenda.
