An ABC representative summarized monthly figures and ledger items and said gross profit for December was about $29,000 with purchases and excise taxes reducing local returns; the representative noted that ABC stores in neighboring counties have much higher gross receipts and argued for reinvesting more of local returns to expand operations. "There's very little money that the local system actually keep because all these things have to be paid," the presenter told commissioners, noting staffing levels and the challenges of operating small county stores.
Commissioners discussed whether the county should allow the ABC board to retain funds to invest in expanding local stores or pursue a more regular distribution schedule to the county; the item will be returned to a work session for further discussion and possible negotiation on quarterly distributions and transparency reports to the board.
