County finance director reports year-end figures, audit submission

Finance director Willa Carver updated the board on the county’s year-end financial work and budget position. “The best news I have tonight is that we submitted the trial balance to... the auditors today,” Carver said, noting that the submission should help close fiscal-year reporting issues and move the county toward completion of its audits.
Carver cited December figures, saying the December 2024 total was approximately $18,000,004.88 and that the current December 31 figure is $17,012,966, a difference she attributed to timing on grant receipts and reimbursements. She said year-to-date revenues exceeded expenditures by about $4,350,104 and walked commissioners through general fund totals (general fund budget $25,045,607; year-to-date checks cut $10,000,007.34) and department-specific notes, including social services and water department variances.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about specific lines and encumbrances; Carver said some reimbursements remain pending and that staff will continue reconciliation and follow up with auditors.
