‘Men’s shed’ pilot draws 36 attendees and a $3,000 local grant

Amy Romehill, aging team supervisor, briefed the board on the ADRC’s new "men’s shed" pilot, saying the May 6 kickoff at the highway department drew 36 men from across Saint Croix County and received very positive feedback. "We had 36 men attend," she said, and 30 of the 36 attendees completed a follow-up survey that helped shape future programming.
Survey results showed interest in practical topics (scam awareness, emergency preparedness, maple-syrup making) and a substantial share of attendees said a contribution-based meal would increase participation (19 respondents said yes; 10 said no). Romehill said the ADRC registered the program with the U.S. Men’s Sheds association and that the county was awarded a $3,000 Vibrant Communities mental-health grant to support near-term costs and refreshments. Board members praised the turnout and asked staff to circulate flyers and outreach materials for upcoming August and November events.
