YDOT details local projects: Bondurant guardrail, Dry Piney connectivity and Pine Street rebuild in Pinedale

Representatives from Wyoming Department of Transportation (District 3) briefed the commission on the State Transportation Improvement Program and local projects affecting Sublette County.
YDOT said the district has roughly $403 million in construction funding statewide for FY2026 and described local projects that include a district guardrail project installing multiple miles of guardrail near Bondurant; a Dry Piney connectivity project adding turnouts, kiosks and minor safety improvements near wildlife crossings; pathway construction in Boyd Skinner Park funded through a TAP grant with town collaboration; and a Pine Street full-depth reclamation (FDR) plus overlay project through Pinedale scheduled for 2028 that will include ADA upgrades and utility coordination. The department also noted several bridge rehabilitations in 2027 (Big Sandy Creek and New Fork Bridge) and mill-and-overlay work north of Marbleton on US‑189.
YDOT staff encouraged local input and said their asset-management systems (pavement and bridge inspections) and public comments feed into project prioritization and funding decisions. Attendees raised questions about bridge inspection authority, temporary closures and signage; YDOT said they inspect most bridges in the state system and will place barriers and signage where needed but sometimes face challenges keeping barriers in place on remote crossings.
