Courthouse sewer lines 'severely cracked,' commissioners told; board approves cleaning contract

Maintenance Supervisor Kevin Flock told commissioners the Courthouse plumbing has serious defects that are creating odor problems inside the building. "The lines are severely cracked, and employees have complained of the resulting smell of sewage inside the Courthouse," the meeting record says. Flock also shared other maintenance needs across county properties and provided a work list for repairs and service.
In response to building maintenance needs, Commissioner Aaron Walsh moved to contract with Kleen Sweep LLC for cleaning services under a two-year contract at $4,333.33 per month to clean the Courthouse, Resource Center, Public Health and WIC offices; the motion was seconded and passed. Commissioner Justin Burkart noted additional structural and security issues in older portions of the Courthouse and raised the possibility of asking voters to consider a "sixth penny" county tax to help finance large building repairs.
The board later approved the Maintenance Supervisor report as part of the meeting's routine approvals.
