Inspection finds erosion at Doniphan County transfer station; commissioners asked to fund repairs

Solid Waste Coordinator Martha Smith told the commission that Kansas Department of Health and Environment stormwater permitting requires inspections at the Transfer Station annually or after significant rainfall. Upon a recent inspection she identified "significant erosion east of the transfer station building, along the drive and roadside fence" and requested the county blade and fill the eroded areas and place rock along the fence edge.
Commissioner Bobby Hall said he would ask Third District Road Foreman Chris Schultz to address the erosion issues. The board did not vote to authorize a specific contractor or dollar amount at the meeting but directed staff to follow up on the repair work.
