Michael Moody, representing the Georgetown Township Fire Protection District, asked the commissioners to approve a petition to increase the district's maximum levy. He said the increase would only take effect if a proposed Fire Territory does not go forward and that filing by the April 1 deadline is necessary to preserve options for this tax year.
Commissioners approved the petition unanimously. President Al Knable said he hoped that, if possible, the Fire Territory would be used instead of the levy increase, given uncertainties about state property‑tax revenue changes under discussion in Indianapolis.
