The Floyd County Board of Commissioners declared Bridge 51 repair an emergency and unanimously approved a $119,945.00 bid from Mac Construction on May 20.
County Engineer Horacio Urieta presented two quotes for the Bridge 51 repair and identified Mac Construction as the lowest bidder. Commissioner Frank Loop moved to declare the repair an emergency; Vice President Jason Sharp seconded. The board then approved the Mac Construction bid by unanimous motion (moved by Jason Sharp, seconded by Frank Loop).
Separately, staff explained INDOT prefers that a bridge’s original designer not perform its inspection; commissioners approved termination FCR 2025-11 of JTL’s contract for Bridge 51 inspections and had earlier approved FCR 2025-12 terminating United Consulting for Bridge 38 inspections.
The emergency declaration and award allow the county to begin repair work once administrative requirements are completed and any required INDOT coordination is finalized.
