Representatives from Lumos Fiber introduced the company’s high-speed fiber plans to the Floyd County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 18. Darren Stout presented the company overview; Derek Kelly made the introduction and said Lumos is headquartered in North Carolina and has been in operation, "in one name or another, for over 100 years," according to the meeting minutes.
The company reported expansion activity in neighboring jurisdictions and said it is looking at projects in Clark and Floyd counties. The presentation was informational; the board did not take action or vote on any agreement with Lumos at the meeting.
