Community Crossing bids logged; change order approved to extend Old Vincennes pavement life

Floyd County recorded multiple bids for Community Crossing projects and unanimously approved a $38,844.70 change order on the Old Vincennes Slide Correction to extend pavement life to an estimated 75–80 years; Bridge 51 erosion mitigation was also reported.
County Engineer Horacio Urieta announced the Community Crossing bid openings and the commission recorded the amounts before taking the bids under advisement. Bids included Mac Construction $609,573.00; Libs Paving $644,569.91; E&B $630,540.00; Hall Paving $769,000.00; Louisville Paving $825,000.00; CNR $737,274.13; and All Terrain Paving $1,038,033.65. The commission voted to take the bids under advisement.
Urieta presented a change order for the Old Vincennes Slide Correction: "the change order is an increase of $38,844.70 to cover more area increasing the lifespan 75-80 years," he said, noting it covers full paving and resurfacing from Captain Frank Road to Quarry Road. The commission accepted the change order unanimously. Urieta also reported concern about a quickly eroding bank at Bridge 51; inspectors recommended placing heavy creek rock on the bank to slow erosion and county staff will continue to monitor the site.
Commissioners said they were pleased to be proactive on these infrastructure issues; the bids will be reviewed and awarded according to the county procurement process.
