County approves new phone system; expects big internet savings after circuit reorganization

IT Director Gary Bierman told commissioners the county plans to replace parts of its phone system, some of which are 10 years old, and move to new servers. "The new phone system will run approximately $4,000.00 a month," Bierman said, adding the county currently pays roughly $13,000 a month for AT&T services and expects to pay an upfront $32,000 to install new phones and migrate circuits.
Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the Nordicom contract and two AT&T contract IDs (5020831 and 5026519). Bierman also said reconfiguring the Nova Parke circuit would cut that site’s monthly cost from about $1,300 to $115. A separate support contract for uninterruptible power systems with Vertiv Corporation was discussed but tabled for further review.
