The St. Croix County Board voted unanimously to appoint Dan (Daniel) Schmidt to the District 4 supervisor seat and administered his oath of office during the June meeting. Chair Robert Fielder recommended Schmidt after a review of three applicants and interviews by the chair and vice chair.
At the meeting the chair said he had “very, very high quality” applicants but recommended Dan Schmidt for his banking experience and familiarity with farm and commercial issues. Supervisor Van Summerin moved the nomination and Supervisor Rice seconded; the board voted to appoint Schmidt, and the county clerk administered the oath, after which Schmidt took his seat at the dais.
The appointment filled the vacancy left by Kathy Leaf’s resignation. No additional conditions or contested objections were recorded in the discussion leading to the vote.
