Registrar of Deeds asks for nearly $18,000 lease increase for Southbrook office
Summary
Cheryl Floyd, CAO for the Registrar of Deeds, requested a $17,920 lease increase for the Southbrook location (amendment total $21,920 including a separate $4,000 printing line). The committee stripped the non‑contract printing line and treated the lease change as a discussion item pending an offsetting funding source.

Cheryl Floyd, CAO of the Register of Deeds office, told the committee the office needs an adjustment to its FY2027 proposal to address a Southbrook lease increase and printing costs. "Previously, we came before you requesting a $24,000 increase. We're adjusting that request and decreasing that amount from 24,000 to $17,920," Floyd said, explaining the change would bring the lease line to roughly $30,000 annually once parking premiums are included.
Floyd said she removed a $2,850 vehicle maintenance request from the amendment and kept a $4,000 request for printed bridal/birth brochures, but committee leadership said the brochure printing is a discretionary item that should not be part of a contractual amendment. The chair requested the sponsor bring forward the lease‑only amendment of $17,920 with a clear funding offset next week.
Commissioners did not vote on the amendment during the special meeting; it was held as a discussion item so the sponsor can present an offsetting revenue source or a fund balance decision at the June 10 committee meeting.
Next step: sponsor to return with a lease‑only amendment and proposed funding source.
