Project managers say Flex Hall will add a second ice sheet and school partnerships to keep youth sports local

Designers and operators highlighted the Flex Hall as a multiuse space that will expand the arena's appeal for youth sports, practices and tournaments. Will Christenberry of MFA Project Management said the Flex Hall lets the venue host simultaneous activities and create overflow capacity.
"By building the Flex Hall, we're gonna have a 2nd sheet of ice where if we have a concert or one of these events going on, they can still stay and make it and practice," Christenberry said. Speakers said that capability reduces the need for teams to travel to other cities for practice and improves the competitiveness of local clubs.
The project team also described a partnership with the Bibb County School District to place career, technical and agricultural education (CTAE) classrooms adjacent to the facility. Christenberry said district students will have opportunities in culinary arts, AV, and graphics "to have real life experiences from learning to seeing what's going on in the arena." Project staff emphasized safety and separation between the classrooms and the event floor so students can learn on-site without intermingling with event crowds.
Speakers and hosts framed the Flex Hall as both a revenue generator for tournaments and a community benefit for athletes and students.
