Whitley County Fiscal Court approves budgets, contracts, road actions and appointments

At its Dec. 16 meeting the Whitley County Fiscal Court unanimously approved multiple budget items and transfers, awarded a waste-hauling contract to Capital Waste Services, accepted two road petitions (including a 1,500-foot extension), approved grant contracts and made a four-year appointment to the Cumberland Falls Highway Water District.
The Whitley County Fiscal Court met Dec. 16, 2025 and recorded a series of unanimous votes approving budget amendments, contracts and routine county business. Judge/Executive Pat White, Jr. presided and all present officials voted in favor of the motions as recorded.
Among the actions the court approved were the first reading of Ordinance 2025-08 (Budget Amendment #3), approval of the Whitley County Clerk’s amended 2025 budget and the Clerk’s 2026 budget and annual order setting maximum deputy pay. The court also approved contracts tied to FEMA DR 4875 Public Assistance and the SFY26 SAR Rescue Aid Fund, awarded the county waste-hauling contract to Capital Waste Services, accepted petitions to extend Lonnie Gibbs Road by 1,500 feet and to add Shiner Valley Road to the county road system, and appointed Mike Meadors to the Cumberland Falls Highway Water District for a four-year term.
The meeting included routine acknowledgments of monthly reports from Sheriff Bill Elliotte, Jailer Jason Wilson, Emergency Management Director Jerry Rains and Opioid Response Coordinator Darrell Hurst. An add-on motion transferred funds from the Road Fund to an LGEA account. The court adjourned after recording that all motions passed with unanimous “yea” votes.
