On Jan. 15, 2026, the Bennington County Regional Commission confirmed the planning process for the Bennington Town Plan, which the town adopted on Nov. 10, 2025. William Colvin, director of the BCRC, told commissioners staff had distributed an evaluation tool and concluded the plan contains the required elements and meets statutory requirements.
There were no public comments during the hearing. Commissioner Donald Campbell moved to open the hearing; Commissioner Dana Rozycki seconded. Commissioner John LaVecchia later moved to close the hearing; Commissioner Donald Campbell seconded. Colvin announced the regional vote results after commissioners cast their votes: the confirmation passed with 15 total votes, including 11 votes from unique municipalities, exceeding the requirement that a majority of municipalities in the region approve.
The certification affirms the town and BCRC have completed the procedural review recorded in the staff evaluation. The minutes do not record individual commissioner vote names beyond the totals, nor do they provide the text of any objections, as none were entered during the public hearing.
