Mead migrates website and email to meadco.gov to secure .gov certification
Summary
Communications/IT staff announced the town has migrated from townofmead.org to meadco.gov; public links and incoming mail are redirected, and staff will update internal logins. The .gov domain is intended to improve public trust and compatibility with federal systems and law‑enforcement registrations.

Town staff told the board the town’s website and email domains have moved to a .gov registry and that all townofmead.org addresses and website links now redirect to meadco.gov. Staff member Lorelei said the change has no functional impact for the public — existing links and email continue to deliver — but requires internal updates to usernames and logins and was pursued in part to satisfy federal and law‑enforcement systems that require .gov domains.
"So it is official. The town of Mead has transitioned its website from townofmead.org to meadco.gov, and that includes all of town email addresses as well," Lorelei said. She explained the .gov registry requires a state identifier and that the town shortened the domain to meadco.gov for practicality. Staff asked trustees to expect some internal support requests while user accounts and replies update; public‑facing redirects and email delivery were reported to be working at the time of the meeting.
