Clerk outlines Nov. 3 coordinated election, drop‑box locations and deadlines

Town Clerk Melissa Peters Garcia briefed the Board of Trustees on the Nov. 3, 2026 coordinated election and the intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with Weld County, which is on the consent agenda for approval. Peters Garcia said the mail‑ballot election will include the mayor’s seat and four trustee seats; the three highest vote‑getters for trustee will serve four‑year terms and the fourth will serve a two‑year term to fill a vacancy.

Peters Garcia walked trustees through key dates: candidate informational meeting on Aug. 4 at 4 p.m. at the community center (candidate packets available that day), ballot content and initiatives due to the county by Sept. 4, ballots mailed and drop boxes opened Oct. 9, in‑person voting beginning Oct. 19 at voter service and polling centers, and ballots due by 7 p.m. on Nov. 3 (postmarks do not count). She also noted the town’s new drop box near the Mead Community Center had received 1,080 ballots so far; by comparison she said a typical comparable box would receive ~2,700 ballots.

Peters Garcia encouraged interested candidates to attend the Aug. 4 informational session and said petitions are due to the clerk’s office by Aug. 24 at 4:30 p.m. Trustees asked clarifying questions about drop‑box locations and how voters correct or replace a damaged ballot; Peters Garcia advised voters must go to a Weld County voter services and polling center to obtain and submit a replacement ballot.
