Board approves FY2026–27 school budget with $1.1 million local increase amid state funding uncertainty

Tyler presented the school budget package and noted the schools continue to request a $1,100,000 local increase and have an outstanding CIP ask to use county funds for a welding facility at the technical center. "They still do have their $1,100,000 local increase," Tyler said.
Board members and the superintendent discussed the uncertainty of state funding for schools; the superintendent said state action was still "hung up with legislators" and that clearer information was expected in June. "It's still hung up with legislators," the superintendent said. Despite uncertainty, a supervisor moved to adopt the school budget as presented; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
The board noted that additional CIP decisions (including a proposed welding facility and HVAC package) will be discussed in July and that the county and school administration will continue collaboration on facilities planning.
