Parents and volunteers press Vernonia district on facilities and transparency; board points to complaint channels

Several members of the public used the board’s public comment period to raise facilities and process concerns. Ollie Nundberg (S4) asked the district to address multipurpose room lighting and a large glass wall that washes out theater and music performances; maintenance and the superintendent agreed to schedule on-site checks and to try to get the front lights working.
A volunteer, Robert Secard (S11), described observing classroom and supervision issues and said he had filed an official complaint with state education authorities. Chair (S1) reminded Mr. Secard and other commenters that Oregon law and district policy prohibit personnel discussions in an open board meeting and directed that personnel complaints be pursued through the superintendent and formal complaint channels. The board noted resources and urged commenters to follow district complaint procedures so matters requiring investigation can be processed appropriately.
