CASA of Saint Croix County: $300,000 ARPA funds are being drawn monthly; volunteers still needed

Sean Kinsella, executive director of CASA of Saint Croix County (S6), updated the committee on the nonprofit's operations and finances and described how the organization is using leftover ARPA money provided by the county. Kinsella said the $300,000 award has been placed in deferred revenue and that CASA is drawing the funds down monthly so the money is spent across the current fiscal period rather than appearing as a single lump sum in one month.
"We received money from the county, 300,000 in leftover ARPA funds, and part of the reason that I'm here was to present on the progress of that, to make sure that we use those funds judiciously," Kinsella said. He also said CASA currently serves 31 children (down from 59 at the end of last year), that volunteer numbers have recovered from a low in 2023 (currently 21 active volunteers), and that the program is actively recruiting new volunteers, especially men, to support teen-male cases.
