The clerk of court (S4) told the committee she will retire next Friday the 12th and introduced her chief deputy Melissa Warwick and lead worker Shelly Fox, emphasizing their decades of experience in the office. She explained a $12,000 charge in the financial report had been posted to the wrong department and said staff were already fixing the accounting entry.
She described the interim process: because she is leaving midterm her interim successor will be appointed to the role and will, in turn, appoint a chief deputy; the county will then hold the regular election at the end of the current term. "Our budgets overlap quite often and that's where the 12,000... It got taxed to circuit court," the clerk said, adding that the mispost is being corrected. Supervisors thanked the clerk for her service and congratulated the staff she introduced.
