Planning board approves rezoning of former auto repair site at 3530 N. Meridian Rd.

The Harvey County Planning & Zoning Advisory Board on March 4 approved rezoning 3530 N. Meridian Rd. from IDS (Industrial) to A‑1 (Agricultural). Zoning Director Rothe said the parcel, formerly Meridian Fleet Auto Repair, is a small, nonexpandable lot surrounded by residential zoning.
Owner Steve Roberson told the board he plans to use the upper level as a loft-style living area and the lower level as a personal garage. Rothe noted the parcel has an existing well and septic that ‘‘may be utilized after proper testing and inspections’’ and said staff will inspect setbacks before issuing permits. The board determined that rezoning criteria were met and approved the rezoning with conditions.
The motion to approve the rezoning was moved by Commissioner Tessa Wendling and seconded by Pat Wendling; the motion passed unanimously. Rothe flagged that any future permit issuance would follow standard inspection and permitting procedures for wells and septic systems.
