Taos County says Veterans Cemetery nearly complete, awaiting inspections

Richard Sanchez, who provided the update, said the facility is "basically a 100% complete" and staff are finishing landscaping and procuring interior equipment. He warned the fire marshal inspection process may take up to 60 days for some projects and said the county must still schedule training with Santa Fe officials for burial procedures before interments can begin.
Commissioners asked whether the county plans a public dedication. Staff said a dedication is tentatively planned around Nov. 11 but no firm date has been set due to inspection and dignitary scheduling. Staff emphasized they will not promise an opening date until inspections and training are complete.
