Road & Bridge reports equipment repairs and assists airport cleanup; approach agreement approved

Shane Rankin told commissioners the department worked through weather challenges, deployed plows for the first time this season, and is completing blade repairs (an electrical module and a hydraulic pump). Rankin said John Deere crews will perform on‑site repairs because the county lacks a trailer to haul equipment; his crew also helped the Wilson Brothers contractor on the airport cleanup by providing a loader and end dump, which improved efficiency and helped keep contractor costs down.
Rankin presented an Approach Agreement for Chase Mead to widen an existing field approach into a residential approach on County Road 27W; the board approved the agreement. "The material is good mixed pit run, some tailings, and some gravel," Rankin said of the stockpile at the old airport that will be reused as fill.
