Board approves girls' swimming co-op with Banks School District

The Vernonia School District Board of Directors voted unanimously on Nov. 14 to approve an athletic cooperative agreement with Banks School District for girls' swimming. The motion to approve the co-op was made by Javoss McGuire and seconded by Greg Kintz.
Superintendent Jim Helmen reported that Banks High School requested that a VHS student be allowed to join their swim program; the board approved the agreement as presented with no recorded opposition. The board did not attach conditions in the meeting record. The approval allows VHS students access to swim competition opportunities through the Banks program for the current season.
The board did not discuss any changes to other athletic programs at this meeting. Implementation details and any necessary inter-district paperwork will be handled by district administration following the board's approval.
